There are so many things to do in Bali we have had to add this links page into the site to enable you to get to the information you want more quickly. Learn about the Balinese Culture while having fun! There is fun for everyone in Bali!

Visiting Uluwatu Temple
the Uluwata temple, located in the south western tip of the island, is a home to one of the greatest sunsets in Bali! There is a fee to enter the temple, and an extra fee to see a traditional Balinese dance. Knees must be covered and those wearing shorts must wear a sarong. The temple is “taken care of” by island monkeys who protect the temple from bad spirits. Temple guests are asked not to wear shiny jewelry or clothing which can attract the monkeys.

Visiting Monkey forest
There are alot of stories about the monkeys and the monkey forests in Bali. This forest is well controlled and if you are sensible and follow the rules.

The monkeys in the forest are called Balinese or long tailed macaques. there are now around 139 macaques in the forest. there are 10 adult males, 55 adult females and 74 young monkeys. The adult males are the larger monkeys with the big teeth, They can weigh up to 10 kilograms. The females are a bit smaller and weigh up to eight kilograms, you can tell them by their ‘moustaches’ – not like humans.

The monkey forest is a holy place and an important ecological reserve.

There are three holy temples in the forest. the Pura Dalem Agung is the main temple for the village of Padangtegal. This temple is in the southwest of the main forest area. There is also the Holy Bathing temple which is down a long flight of stairs near the stream, this is in the northwest of the forest.

Surfing
There has been a lot written about the surf in Bali. There are some good spots for the children to learn and practice their skills, which are around Kuta. This includes a set of small breaks at the front of the Kartika Plaza hotel. These are good when there is a big swell and at high tide when the swells can get over the outer reef. On a small swell there are surf breaks all along the beachfront from the Kartika Plaza to North Legian. You can take your own board on the plane, not a problem, or hire them on the beach. It cost us 10,000 Rph per hour for boogy boards and the guy who hired them to the kids spent alot of time in the water helping them

Rafting
Which river should you choose which is safe for your first race down the river with the kids? We explored the options and settled on the Ayung River, which runs through Ubud. This is a river which will allow children who are 8 years and older. The price of the different options varies on the length of river you cover. There are both half and full day tours. The morning half-day tour includes lunch and drink after you finish. This is an exhilarating way to spend a day and if you are happy to spend the dollars -–it’s relatively expensive – have a go. The costs vary and you can get specials .
